Residential Pet Waste Removal FAQs

Q: What do you do with the poop?

Our general practice is to place the collected waste/poop, double bagged, in the customer’s outdoor trash can.  It is the customer’s responsibility to make sure the trash can is accessible to us.  In the event no trash can is available at the completion of service, we will leave the bags outside your garage, in your side yard, or another location.

If you are interested in having the waste taken away by They Poop We Scoop, please inquire, as this service may be available for an additional fee.

Q: When will you arrive at my house?

We use routing software to ensure efficiency, time & gas savings. We cannot promise a particular time of arrival but do send a text when we are at least 10 or 15 minutes away to let our clients know we are on the way. That’s one way we keep our prices low.

Likewise, we group our customers geographically in order to keep costs low.  We therefore cannot promise a specific service day.  They Poop We Scoop reserves the right to change your service day, with at least 7 calendar day’s notice.

Q: How does billing work?

They Poop We Scoop requires all customers to have a credit card on file for monthly payment.  The customer’s credit card will be charged automatically by our secure processor on the first of each month for the services to be provided that calendar month.  If a card is declined, we will contact you to resolve the issue.  If the issue is not resolved by the 4th of the month, we reserve the right to terminate service, or pause service until the issue is resolved.  If the issue is resolved, we reserve the right to charge the customer for any missed services, as the poop will still be there for us to pick up upon resolution of the billing issue.

If a customer will not provide a credit card on file, we reserve the right to refuse service, or, at our discretion, to accept a different payment method for an additional fee.

Billing is based on a 48 week year/4 week month (see below).

Q: Do you operate year-round?

We operate year round.  However, we do want our employees and customers to enjoy the holidays uninterrupted.  Therefore, They Poop We Scoop does not scoop the following Holidays.  Your bill will remain unchanged, and we will scoop up double the poop on your next scheduled visit.  See below:

New Year’s Day

Memorial Day

Independence Day

Labor Day

Thanksgiving Day and the day after

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

Your bill is based on 48 weeks per year (4 weeks per month), instead of the normal 52 weeks per year.  Therefore, we reserve the right to take “vacation days” throughout the year.  The first 4 “vacation days” in a calendar year affecting a visit to your property will not receive any credit, since you are not paying for 4 weeks per year.  For each “vacation day” after 4 effected visits per calendar year, you will receive a per visit credit of 25% toward your next bill if your visit is performed on a different day, or a per visit credit of 50% toward your next bill if the affected service is not performed on a different day before your next regularly scheduled visit.  Why not 100?  Because the poop will still be there for us to pick up on our next visit!

Missed visits based on sickness, regular holidays, mechanical problems, or other issues do not count towards “vacation days”.

You will be informed of an upcoming “vacation day” at least 10 calendar days prior to the affected visit.

Q: How do I cancel or change my service?

We do not require contracts or have termination fees for cancellations for residential services. We generally operate on a month to month basis.  We do require all cancellations or changes in service to be submitted in writing via email or text at least 48 hours prior to your billing cycle renewal date.  If service is canceled after payment (including pre-payments of more than one month, and including after a service price change), no refunds for unused services will be issued for any reason.

Q: Do I need to be home when you scoop?

You do not need to be home when we scoop, but you agree to make your property accessible to They Poop We Scoop on your scheduled service day, and to keep it in a condition that is safe for us to scoop in.  This includes:

We require pets to be kept inside during service, unless explicitly informed otherwise by They Poop We Scoop.  We love pets, but we don’t like to be bitten!

We generally provide at least 15-20 minutes notice, via text message, before we arrive to service your property. If we are unable to access your yard due to a gate being locked, dogs being out, or any other condition we deem adverse, we will attempt to contact you via phone call and/or knocking on your door.

If we ask for confirmation that your pets will be kept inside via text or otherwise before we arrive and do not hear back, we will likewise try to contact you again upon arrival, and wait 10 minutes before moving on to our next property.

If any adverse condition is not resolved within 10 minutes of our first attempt to contact you, we will move on to our next house and return to your property on your next scheduled service date.  In this event, your account will not be issued any credit or refund.  Please understand that we are on a strict schedule and have many other properties to scoop, and there will be twice as much to scoop next time.

We will not climb fences or gates, or do anything else we deem unsafe in order to access a property.

Q: Do you scoop in the rain/snow?

They Poop We Scoop works Monday through Friday, including in the rain and snow.  Certain weather or yard conditions may make it impractical, impossible or unsafe to scoop.  This includes but is not limited to:

Excessive/recent snowfall.  Deep snow makes it difficult to navigate your yard safely and effectively.

Excessive/recent rainfall.  We do work in the rain.  However, recent excessive rainfall may result in cancellation if we deem it makes it impractical or impossible to scoop.  We are careful not to damage grass, but are not liable for any damage to grass caused by scooping a waterlogged yard.

Unsafe conditions.  We do not scoop in any conditions we deem unsafe, including but not limited to: lightning, excessive precipitation, extreme wind, extreme heat, etc.

In the event of a weather cancellation, we will scoop the poop from the previous week at your next scheduled service date.  Since there will be twice as much poop to scoop next time, we do not offer any type of refund for weather-related cancellations.  If your service schedule is every other week or every four weeks and you would like us to try to fit you in before your next scheduled scoop, please let us know.  We will do our best to accommodate you, but cannot guarantee anything.  If we do scoop your yard before your next scheduled appointment, there will be no additional fee, and your next scoop will remain as scheduled.

What constitutes these conditions is at the sole discretion of They Poop We Scoop.

We always do our best to find all the poop we can in your yard.  Our goal is to be as thorough as possible.  However, if the yard has high grass, leaves, snow or other conditions, we may not be able to find it all; we can only scoop what we can see.  Any hidden poop that is accessible once snow has melted, leaves have been raked, and/or grass has been mowed, will be scooped at the next scheduled appointment.

Q: Do you offer gift cards or gift certificates?

We do!  All sales are final and non-refundable. However, they are always transferable and may be used by anyone other than the initial recipient. Gift cards/certificates never expire.

Q: What if I am unhappy with my service?

Your happiness is very important to us.  If you are ever unhappy with your service, please contact us and we'll work to make it right.

Why use our Pooper Scooper Service?

The EPA classifies pet waste as a pollutant.  It can pollute nearby waterways and groundwater and transmit harmful diseases to other pets, wild animals and people, such as: E-coli, parasitic worms, salmonella and others, which can even be unknowingly tracked into your home on your shoes.  Dog poop also attracts pests like fleas, ticks and other creepy crawlies to your yard (and therefore your pet).

Dog waste is NOT fertilizer or manure!  It damages your lawn, causing unsightly brown spots and killing grass.  It also stinks!

Under ideal conditions, dog waste will take at least two months to decompose, but could take longer than a year, during which time it's piling up and doing its damage.

Protect your pet, yard and local environment, and keep your yard looking great with our dog poop scooper service.
